Feedback from one of our patients, Meg

Thursday, July 8th, 2010
Dr J. and the team get a great big WOOF from me!  My mom has been has been taking me to Dr. J for the past 13 years (since I moved to Madison). I am now a 14.5 year old Pomeranian, named Meg, with good teeth, healthy skin and coat, and overall good health.   Every time I go to the clinic, I get extra special care, lots of love, and dedicated, individualized attention.  I always know that everyone at the clinic will take care of me just like they take care of their own pets!   I got sick 4 years ago when my liver started to act up.  Since then, with medicines, on-going assessments and commitment to making sure that I am getting better every step of the way, I am living a good life and feeling well.  Dr. J takes a cautious approach to treatment and never puts me through anything that isn’t necessary.   Sometimes, I go there just to get pampered.  I get my hair done (bath and brushing), nails trimmed, ears cleaned – the whole works.  It is a wonderful spa day for me.  I love Dr. J and the team!!!  And, of course, I love TC too.

I can’t thank Dr. J and the team for all that they have done for Meg!  Without them, Meg might not be here today.  I trust them explicitly.  What words can I use that describe the team at Janssen Clinic??   Simply:   ”You’re the best.  Simply the best.  Better than all the rest.”

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!  Barb Schultz and Meg

Cat Urination Red Flags

Thursday, July 8th, 2010

It is important for cat owners to recognize signs of urinary conditions.  Some pet owners assume their cat is “mad” at them – and wait too long.   Straining to urinate, urinating in odd (non litterbox) places or bloody urine can be signs of a be life-threatening condition, and it is always wise to see us immediately before any urethral blockage occurs.

If you notice any of these signs of urinary problems in your cat, please call us as soon as possible.

  • urinating out of the box
  • straining to urinate or only urinating small amounts
  • bloody urine
  • painful in abdomen when picked up, meowing
  • anorexia or decreased appetite
  • lethargy
  • excessive licking of genital area
  • If Dr. Janssen rules out medical causes for the inappropriate urinary behavior, he will recommend some behavioral modification techniques, litter or litter box suggestions, or recommend a behaviorist to help with the problem.
